There are those among the ranks of MMA fandom that do not appreciate the UFC’s endeavors to become a really worldwide brand and try to get in the European marketplace, particularly the UFC 122 odds event which will be presented in Oberhausen Germany on November 13th.

And it is not that these fanatics are anti-European or anti German. It’s simply that the lineup for this German smack down is less than ideal. As we discovered last month with the UFC 120 event presented in London England, organizers seem to heap the fighting lineup with home grown skill (or at least European skill) in an effort to develop a larger lover base in the huge Euro market which has to date rejected MMA as a sporting selection.

The UFC 122 betting action will feature three German fighters and many other European fighters. The main issue with this is that the German MMA scene is relatively minor and nearly none of German fighters in the UFC 122 odds contest are known outside of their villages or cities and particularly not to the majority of the UFC fanatics. So even though there are more Germans than typical on the card, they won’t be met with further support from fanatics.

The sport of MMA has been met with serious criticism in the country by its media and government. It’s formerly led to minors being banned from the first German UFC event, UFC 99, and this it year it is led to the sport being banned from being broadcast completely. The Germans have found the “extent of violence shown to be unacceptable” and so the event will be aired by tape delay on Spike TV here in the united states, but not at all in the country it is in fact being presented in.

The fact that the Main Card headlining competition in the UFC 122 betting action will include Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami in a game in which the winner isn’t even guaranteed a chance at the division championship says a lot about the skill level of the contest in Oberhausen.

But that does not necessarily mean poor news for the MMA fanatics looks to play the UFC 122 odds. Whereas these fighters may not be very famous and never add up to much on the UFC fighting scene, their relative anonymity offers a lot of betting chance for the savvy fanatics eager to do some homework and uncover a bit more about these mysterious fighters.

Look at for example Pascal Krauss, a German welterweight who is scheduled to compete against Englishman Mark Scanlon on the Preliminary card. He’s 6’1″, 170 lbs and he has never lost an MMA match in his life. He has a perfect 9-0 record in MMA action, 7 of the wins by submission. He may be next huge thing in UFC!

What about Karlos Vemola, the Czech contender nicknamed the “Terminator” with a 7-1 record, who will be trying to wipe the mat with American Seth Petruzelli in the light heavyweight division.

There’s lots of relatively mysterious skill out there just waiting to be discovered and bet on by MMA fanatics in the approaching UFC 122 Main Event.
